Fall is here and it’s hard to believe Retro on Roscoe was just two months ago.  Thanks to Roscoe Village for helping to make it a huge success!  It is through the generosity of attendees, especially our neighbors, that RVN is able to do the work that we do for the Village.  A special thank you to all the Retro volunteers – your help is invaluable!

Because of your support, RVN will be able to continue our work in 2023 and beyond.  We will be able to provide support to local schools through direct funding as well as our Education Grant program.  We will provide street cleaning and garbage removal.  We will maintain and expand our Neighbors on Watch camera program.  We will advocate for neighborhood safety.  And we will continue to host events for neighborhood residents including the Halloween Block Party, Winterfest, member appreciation & new neighbor parties, Garden Walk, Neighborhood Garage Sale, Clean & Green, and more.

The Neighbors on Watch Committee was busy in September. On the 20th, RVN held Police Appreciation day at CPD District 19 headquarters, providing all shifts with Paulina Market sandwiches and Bartoli’s Pizza.  This annual event recognizes our district’s officers and helps them get to know RVN and Roscoe Village.  Board members were present for each shift to greet and thank officers.  RVN also delivered food to the unit at Belmont & Western.  Soon after, on September 30, the District 19 Watch Commander held a roll call in Roscoe Village at Roscoe & Bell.  Several neighbors stopped by to watch and talk to the officers.  We hope to have more roll calls in the neighborhood in the future.

The RVN Board has been diligently preparing for the Second Annual Halloween Block Party.  After the success of last year’s event, we are staying with the block party format.  Once again, we have invited local schools to host activities on Roscoe Street and there will be music, candy, and a few surprises.  Save the date on Sunday, October 23 from noon to 4pm and look for more information on our website.

After that, Winterfest kicks off Saturday, December 3rd with the tree lighting and continues through Sunday, December 4th with activities throughout the neighborhood.

As we enter the final months of 2022, I am thankful to all the RVN board for their hard work and am privileged to serve the Roscoe Village community.
